February - Noah James

Noah James, son of Patrick and Jenna James
School Activities and Awards:
High School Basketball for 3 years, soccer for a year, ASB for a year, Chapel worship team for 2 years.
Favorite School Memory:
My favorite school memory is when we were all sitting in math class and Jere spilled Josh’s box of cheeze-its, and they fell on the floor and Mr. Davis started eating them off the floor and making funny sounds.
Something I’m Passionate About:
I am passionate about worship music, lifting, basketball, traveling, and coffee.
People Who Have Been an Inspiration to Me:
My older brother has been a huge inspiration to me in the ways he has handled stress and success in basketball, relationships, and life in general.
Bible Verse That Has Had a Strong Impact on Me:
Matthew 5:16 is a verse that I consistently come back to.
Most Impactful High School Activity:
Senior and junior year bible classes have taught me more than I can explain on how to navigate life, study the Word, and interact with others in a Christ-like fashion.
Current Plans After I Graduate:
My current plans are to pursue aviation with the goal of getting an Airframe and powerplant certification and complete my flight school to go out of the country and serve unreached people groups, using aviation to spread the Gospel.
How Calvary Has Shaped My Worldview:
Calvary has helped shape my worldview in a huge way. I can see the intentions behind the teachers. They serve the Lord where they feel called, regardless of the benefits, because they love Him.
Advice for Students Entering High School:
Be so content with God’s plan that you aren’t shaken when things happen in your life. Chase God with everything you have, and He will care for you in bigger ways than you can imagine. Love the people around you because they need it.
November - Daniel Young

Daniel Young, son of Matt and Bobbie Young
School Activities and Awards:
NHS member, FCA President, Key Club, Soccer, Basketball, Track, Superior in academics, ASB Athletic Director, YLA, Wisdom Award
Favorite School Memory:
During ESM week, we took a bus ride through the Costa Rican jungle while it was pouring, and we couldn’t even see the road!
Something I’m Passionate About:
I love playing soccer with my friends.

Parents, Coach Aaron Adelsberger
Bible Verse That Has Had a Strong Impact on Me:
Psalm 8:1. Just glorifying the Lord and standing in awe of His wonder is truly powerful!

Costa Rice missions trip
Current Plans After I Graduate:
Gain my bachelor’s degree in allied health, go to PTA school, then use the bridge program and become a Physical Therapist.
How Calvary Has Shaped My Worldview:
It has helped me understand what is truly valuable and worthwhile in life.
Advice for Students Entering High School:
Don’t stress yourself out. Have fun and enjoy your friends. Not to be cringe, but time really does fly!

Favorite School Memory:
Some of my favorite school memories have been playing volleyball and cheering in the student section at basketball games.
Something I’m Passionate About:
I am very passionate about leading others to Christ through worship.
People Who Have Been an Inspiration to Me:
My parents, my youth leaders, and my grandparents.
Bible Verse That Has Had a Strong Impact on Me:
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 – But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weakness, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Most Impactful High School Activity:
I think the most impactful events at Calvary have been the worship nights.
Current Plans After I Graduate:
Currently undecided but looking towards education or the medical field.
How Calvary Has Shaped My Worldview:
My time at Calvary has shown me how to further my relationship with Christ. Many of my teachers and friends from school have encouraged me with their testimonies and their passion for the Lord.
Advice for Students Entering High School:
You only have one chance to be a kid, enjoy it! Don’t focus so much on your future that you didn’t see the joys that the Lord has placed in front of you.

ASB Treasurer 2022-2023 & 2023-2024, ASB President 2024-2025, FCA Co-President 2024-2025, Spartan Group Leader, OVCC All League Honorable Mention and All Star, 2024 OVCC North League Champions, 2024 OVCC Conference Tournament Champions, 8 Time Scholar Athlete Award (4.0+ GPA while playing a sport) 2021-2024, 2 Time American Legion Essay Winner (2022 & 2023), National Honor Society (Inducted in 2023), 5 Time Honor Roll Superior, Student United Way Junior Representative 2023-2024, American Legion Post 173 Scholarship Recipient to Buckeye Boys State, Lee’s Chicken Wall of Fame, Herzog Faith and Nation Student Forum Nomination, Better Business Bureau Nomination, and Academic All American Nomination.
Favorite School Memory:
Trying to get Charles Krumm open to take a 3-point shot during a basketball game – I passed it to him, he passed it back, and I passed it to him again yelling, “Shoot it!” Unfortunately, he ended up missing, but it was a great moment.

Pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and play college basketball.
How Calvary Has Shaped My Worldview:
It has grounded into me a better view of the world through a Christian worldview, and it has made me think about everything that is said and to look to Scripture as my first point of reference.
Advice for Students Entering High School:
Work hard, be kind, choose joy – show others what Jesus is all about.

Favorite School Memory:
All the intense volleyball and basketball games with our student section.
Something I’m Passionate About:
I love teaching kids about Jesus and also being active and spending time outdoors.
People Who Have Been an Inspiration to Me:
My parents. They have shown me how to follow God with my whole heart and to have so much fun doing it.

ESM week because I got the opportunity to aid in a classroom and love on kids who were going through some really tough trials.
Current Plans After I Graduate:
Going into the mission field or college for middle school English education.
How Calvary Has Shaped My Worldview:
My time at Calvary has really helped me to form my theology so I have a better understanding of the Lord.
Advice for Students Entering High School:
Give yourself grace. You will make mistakes and there will be times when there’s a lot of stress, so allow yourself time to breathe and don’t be so hard on yourself.
